What is CapRadio Reads?

CapRadio Reads is a newly formed book club for Capital Public Radio members and listeners. You can participate in the book club online 24 hours a day, simply by joining CapRadio Reads and subscribing to the blog. Our moderator, Vicki Lorini will post the monthly book selection with weekly updates and an interactive blog for your comments.

In addition to our online presence, we will meet monthly on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM.  We encourage new members to join us for these face-to-face meetings, but only have space for 40 readers each month. All monthly CapRadio Reads meetings will be held in the Community Room. Registration will be made available on the first Wednesday following each monthly meeting.  Registration is free, but space is limited so you must register each month to attend. Please sign up early to reserve your space.

Our book selections are carefully thought out, and varied in nature.  We will announce our new monthly selection at the end of each monthly meeting and on the web on the first Wednesday following the monthly meeting. A link will be provided, so you may purchase a copy or download it directly through the web.

CapRadio Reads is a book club for everyone, anytime. Whether you are online or in the community room, your voice can be included in the conversation.  We hope you will join us for lively, interesting, and insightful conversations about books, authors and the world of words.

How do I join?

Simply register here to get started. To join the conversation, just post your comment on our blog at CapRadio Reads. All comments will be moderated. If you would like to attend our monthly meetings you may sign up each month when the link becomes available. There is no charge to join or for the monthly meetings. However, there may be a charge for special events. Be sure to sign up early, space is limited.

Special Events and Authors’ Evenings

From time to time we will host special CapRadio Reads member events including special Authors’ Evenings as well as readings and signings to be held both at the Station and around the community. Our first Author’s Evening will be January 8, 2013 at 6:30 PM in our Community Room in Sacramento  This event will feature Robin Sloan, author of the highly acclaimed new book, Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore. Our special events will be offered first to CapRadio Reads members and then to all of our listeners. If you’re a current member of Capital Public Radio, you will also receive a special gift at each event. If you haven’t already, be sure to join Capital Public Radio now, so you don't miss out.
